To wrap up an amazing quarter with some fabulous Kindergarteners, we are making an art display for the classroom! This will hang in the art room for years to come. We talked today about how the color wheel can be used to find color schemes.

Our class began with a story called the Fairie Tales of Fairies by a local Evansville author, Shelley Bisch. This story was black and white, so we talked about ways that the illustrators could have colored it. We looked at a presentation to learn more about color schemes and how they can be found on the color wheel. We talked about what it means for colors to be monochromatic, complementary, and warm or cool. Students then designed two different fairy puppets using exclusively warm or cool colors. Once they were done, they helped contribute to the community by sorting and gluing circles to a "rainbow tree" installation. These circles are made of the colors that they practiced making in our last class. It will be hung in the center of the art room once it is completed. Stay tuned to see the finished result!
